CURRICULUM
Bringing Animations to Life
Each day brings a brand-new animation project designed to introduce key coding principles through creativity and play. From scrolling landscapes to ghostly effects and teleporting portals, campers will be amazed at what they can build with a little code and a lot of imagination!
- Day 1 - Scrolling Background
Campers will create the illusion of motion with scrolling landscapes. Along the way, they’ll explore events, loops, backgrounds, sprites, costumes, movement, and conditionals.
- Day 2 - Ghost Effect
Time to get spooky! Students will build a ghostly animation that blinks in and out using loops, sounds, sprites, costumes, and timing with wait blocks.
- Day 3 - Portal Animation
Students will learn to combine movement, resizing, special effects, and looping logic to create a dramatic electrocution effect when the player loses the game. This animated sequence will simulate a "game over" scene, adding excitement and polish to their projects, just like in professional video games!
- Day 4 - Shake Screen Effect
Campers will bring some action to their animations with a dramatic screen shake! This lesson covers events, variables, loops, movement, and how to use "stop all" to end animations effectively.
- Day 5 - Final Projects & Kahoot Quiz
In the final session, students will put the finishing touches on their favourite project or remix something entirely new. To celebrate their learning, we’ll end with a fun Kahoot quiz that reinforces the week’s key coding concepts with plenty of laughs and excitement!
